lip-smacker-diamond-icingDebuting all the way back in 2000, the Jewel Lips collection is a sparkly classic that, much like the Cosmic collection, is still very sought after today. In total there were twelve different smackers, each adorned with a name and jewel that represented a birthstone.

This Lip Smacker collection is a good example of how important a cute theme is when it’s time to look back and reminisce–though I can’t speak for the formulas on all twelve (since mine are all still in the package) the seven I have extras of have either completely lost their smell or, at most, retain a hint of frosting.

And since the frosty glitter-infused balm can easily be found in its full-scented glory today (such as in the Disney Princess line), I’ll have to assume it’s less the lip balm itself and more the shimmery labels and gem-encrusted caps that keeps fans asking for a re-launch. Myself included!

There are a few flavor standouts though, such as Butterscotch Topaz, Emerald Butter Mint, Turquoise Sprinkle Cake, and until this year, Amethyst Sour Grape. However I don’t have opened versions of these–if you do, please comment and let us know how they have held up over the years! 🙂

Do you guys miss the birthstone Lip Smackers too? What were your favorites?

Lip Smacker Refreshment collectionHere’s a picture of the limited edition back-to-school set done some years ago called Refreshment Time. These smackers came in a cute zipper bag which was perfect for pencils and other school supplies 🙂

What were/are your favorites from this collection?

I always liked Fresh Apple Cider and Berry Grape Quencher because it is so hard to find those flavors regularly!

Also I updated the Wall’s post with some new info I found, including a better picture of the 8 flavors that will be in the party pack.

Lip Smacker said in a comment on their facebook page that they are bringing back appleCaramel Apple as a limited-edition flavor this fall! Hopefully this is more true to the original than the Halloween version.

Reader Megan also noticed a comment from LS mentioning that they are trying to bring Cinnamon Sugar back as a permanent flavor next year, woohoo! Now if we still get that vintage Dr Pepper… 😀

Psst… this limited edition set has already been spotted at various drugstores as well as Walmart, so make sure to stock up! Who knows when we will see some of these vintage flavors from Bonne Bell again… maybe in another decade?

If you have them: what flavor have you been enjoying the most? If you don’t: what flavor are you most excited about?  They’re all great but I’m really happy about Sour Grapes — I soo wish they’d bring back the whole sour collection!

I wonder if we will get more stuff like this throughout the year. I totally think they’re holding out on us, plus they owe us BIG time for axing Cinnamon Sugar!

Lip Smacker – Bubblegum Kisses

It turns out that Bonne Bell is going low-key this year–Bubblegum Kisses will be the only smacker hitting shelves this Valentine’s Day.

You can find it in a trio with a hot pink nail polish and liquid smacker in Spun Sugar. The packaging is brighter and cuter than the past two years (cheetah print!) so I’m a little sad we won’t see more!

This limited edition flavor is only available at Target. Also, you might not find it in the regular makeup aisle but in the v-day holiday area like mine was.
