Quick question: has anyone gotten the Pink Lemonade biggy? My order was canceled because of no stock and I’m curious if any were ever sold.

If you managed to nab one I’d like to know how it is!

No, but I did get a couple cool Lip Smacker sets at a store called the Bargain Hunt! I got a Skittles (green apple, lemon, grape, and strawberry) and an original (bubble gum, vanilla, cotton candy, and wild raspberry) 4 pack of Lip Smackers for $2 each!

    • Celeste on June 21, 2015 at 10:30 PM said:

Lucky you! 🙂 I love the skittles and original flavors : )

I seen to find Lip Smackers at discount stores better than I can in regular stores, which is kind of disappointing. Oh well, more older collections for me!

  2. yup, they cancelled my order for 2 biggies. i would also like to know if it was even really for sale.

    • Renee on June 15, 2015 at 7:16 PM said:

I’m not sure, but I hope people are able to get it soon. Same with the Inside Out Lip Smackers. I hope they appear more in stores.

      • I’m just confused why they sold it on their site then said “whoops we don’t have it” 🙁

        • Renee on June 15, 2015 at 7:21 PM said:

I guess you could try getting them again to see if they’re available. I think it stinks that they did that and they shouldn’t even have it up on the website if it wasn’t even available. I hope stuff like this doesn’t happen in the future.

          • for sure…shipping is $10 and i don’t like that i paid $10 for a couple random smackers when the whole reason i ordered was for the biggies. anyway, let’s hope 🙂

Does anyone still need the 80s and 90s trios? I’m hoping for the Inside Out and Sour Orange to hit Rite Aid.

  4. Maria on June 15, 2015 at 11:45 PM said:

Renee? Did u ever get the trios??

    • Renee on June 16, 2015 at 4:08 AM said:

My Rite Aid doesn’t sell them. They still have the special 4-packs of root beer float, cherry cream soda, vanilla shake, and orange sherbet and the tropical Skittles ones with a strawberry one in it too. I saw they had a couple strawberry banana Lip Smackers, so I got one of those instead.

So u still need the 80s and 90s trios, Renee? I recall Amanda got the 90s but wasn’t sure if u did.

    • Celeste on June 16, 2015 at 2:46 PM said:

      I don’t think she did. Yeah, I only got the 90s. 🙂

      • Renee on June 16, 2015 at 4:33 PM said:

70’s, 80’s, 90’s, chocolate mint, and sour orange. NONE of these have been in my local stores, not even in Rite Aid or Target.

        • Celeste on June 16, 2015 at 8:06 PM said:

Me either. I had to buy the 90s and 70s online along with the chocolate mint. 🙁

I miss how the company used to be when their founder was living. Now its hard to get any of thier products. I asked if sour orange would be on the webstore and they said it would only be sold in Target and other stores that I’m not even familiar with. Its ridiculous that they won’t even sell all thier products on thier own website! Why would they even put the pink lemonade biggie on the website if its always sold out?

  8. Celeste on June 16, 2015 at 2:53 PM said:

Also, disgust from the in and out flavors is sour raspberry, but probably 95% of us won’t be able to get it the way these people are. lol

  9. Stef on June 16, 2015 at 3:52 PM said:

Yup, Celeste, I agree with everything you said. I believe the Jess Jr’s dad had the best ideas for the company. Strangely, Jess became CEO and his dad stepped down to remain as a board member in 2000. The dad died in the end of September of 2005 and later the daughter they named the company after, died like less than two months after him. After that, I don’t think the company was ever the same.

I was doing some more research was able to find a PDF version of a report not too long ago on WWD and I’ve pasted the most important text that rang to me: retailers said the company has been less aggressive in recent years, causing it to reduce its footage. Sales are estimated to have sunk as low as $100 million, a fraction of the once robust brand. Buyers made aware of the deal said they hope Markwins can bring it back to life and reinvigorate the tween market.

The issue is that they’re not even getting their products shipped to stores around the US and the world. Almost everyone is having a hard time finding Lip Smackers. The best places I’ve been able to find Lip Smackers are in bargain/dollar stores like Big Lots, Ollie’s, the Bargain Hunt, and the Dollar Tree. Kmart, Target, Walgreen’s, Walmart, and even Shopko (I haven’t been there since I lived in the Midwest), used to have a whole part of a makeup isle where they sold their Bonne Bell and Lip Smacker products. Now most of those stores put them on a side isle, sell a few sets around Easter/Christmas, or not at all. I don’t understand how they expect people to buy their products if they’re 1. Not in their local stores and 2. Not even sold on their website! I bet even Lip Smacker fans outside of the US would probably like it if more products were being sold in their country and the shipping wasn’t so pricey.

  10. I was feeling depressed earlier when I read a recent article that an outside company, New Mill Capital Corp.is auctioning off the last of Bonne Bell’s real estate on Crocker Road in Westlake at the end of July. It still hurts to hear. I feel that Markwin’s is carrying out the rest of what Bonne Bell had planned, since most product launches are planned years out and will really get their hands dirty once 2016 comes, meaning changes. I agree that after Jess Bell died his son Buddy had no interest in keeping the company original but cashing it in. Mrs. Bell is probably the only one who actually cares, it must be tough for her to deal-there used to be so many Bell’s working for the company up until about 7 years ago. I guess the writings were really on the wall. Ever since drugstores started dropping foot space is really when this snowball started rolling. What really drives me crazy is how everyone wants Lip Smackers but I always see people complaining about prices. I get paying for shipping but if there is a new flavor I will pretty much pay full shipping for it, just because I’m that big of a fan. It also drives me crazy to see brands like NYX gaining ground in the cosmetics aisles when 98% of their products are made in China. Pretty much sums up America, people expect luxury quality but won’t pay for it. I don’t get the whole Baby Lips phase- there’s nothing collectible about them. They do not state a flavor and are not consistent with smells. Some smell like their name, others do not. I don’t get the hype. Maybe if Maybelline still made Kissing Potions that were flavored roll-on glosses, then I’d get it. The only other collectible gloss I can think of is Beauty Rush from Victoria’s Secret. Anyway- now I’m rambling. I have a feeling that Markwins is scrambling trying to buy shelf space and just figure out what they want to do with the brands. I really, really hope they do not ruin the brand but make it better. If they can stay consistent with Bonne Bell’s quality and authenticity then I can see myself still following the brand.

    • Renee on June 16, 2015 at 6:28 PM said:

If they do make changes for the negative, then I’m glad I collected as many Lip Smackers as I could.

  11. Celeste on June 16, 2015 at 8:04 PM said:

I agree with what everyone is saying! They lost thier originality and simplicity after the founder passed away. When you keep the product more age neutral then you’ll be able to capture a larger market. I know that its a brand targeted at youth, but when 90% of your products are Disney, people will associate it with being for tweens only and they won’t want to buy it if they are teens or older. They recognized this and wanted to capture the older market again, hence started releasing the 70s to 90s flavors, but by then the damage was done. Too many people associate it with being for tweens and they can’t get thier products in stores due to decreased demand. They don’t have thier identity anymore.

I aslo agree with A. It annoys me too, to see brands like EOS and baby lips get so much hype when there’s nothing unique about them. Wet n Wild has such boring packaging and the quality is not that good, yet they always have thier own generous space in every grocery or drug store I go to. I don’t see a bright future for the brand, but like Renee said, at least we’ve already collected a lot of lip smackers.

    • Realistically, people are quite boring when it comes to grooming products and if they don’t see it in stores, they will assume it is no longer made. They do not do their homework and realize brands/ products are still around, it’s just available in different channels, internet etc., so they just move on to the “next best thing”. It’s very rare for consumers to be brand loyal anymore since cosmetic companies practically grow on trees now. Lip Smacker used to be the only flavored gloss that stayed around. Maybelline discontinued Kissing Potion in the late 80’s, same with Village Lip Lickers and so many more have come and gone since then, but Lip Smackers have stood the test of time. I really feel like the last generation of Bell’s running the company had no passion at all for the line. The 70’s were a hay day at Bonne Bell, they had such a huge part of the market, and the only ones marketing to adults and teens. They had such a wholesome but fun all-American image. I still reminisce and fantasize what it was like back then when Bonne Bell was everywhere and all Lip Smackers were Biggy sized. Can you imagine what those displays looked like?!?

      • Celeste on June 16, 2015 at 10:08 PM said:

That’s true. The average consumer isn’t going to really seek out a specific lip balm, unless they are big fans of the brand. I wish I could take a time machine and go back to those days alomg with the 90s and buy lip smackers! lol I loved the packaging of the products back then.

  12. Maria on June 16, 2015 at 8:09 PM said:

Same here Renee. I have over 100 backups and 60 some I’m currently using. I’m hoping my Rite Aid gets Sour Orange soon. That sounds like a yummy flavor. And when are the “Inside Out” flavors supposed to be released?

    • Renee on June 16, 2015 at 8:22 PM said:

They’re supposed to be released around the same time the Inside Out movie will be released in theaters.

    • Sour Orange should of started appearing on shelves in April and Chocolate Mint should of been out in January, but as we know with the announcement of selling off the brands to Markwins, Target, etc. starting clearancing out products which I believe messed up all of the new products that we were suppose to see. Planograms were practically bare from the announcement in January up until the down-size of space in late March. We should already be seeing Lunar Lime come July but I doubt it since they are just now promoting Sour Orange. Either Markwin’s is up in to their ears or they just don’t give any F’s- we will see. I hope they are realizing based on Facebook just how serious we all are about the brand and will not take anything less than what we are already use too.

      • Renee on June 16, 2015 at 8:54 PM said:

I hope they do what they say and make it more available in stores. I really want the 90’s trio and the Blues N Berry Sadness Inside Out Lip Smacker.

        • I cannot wait to try the Inside Out Cinnamon. I do not care for all the Disney at all, but they did get me with the flavors here. Cinnamon, which is suppose to be a true Red Hots flavor (please, oh please let it be authentic) I’scream Shake and Sour Raspberries all sound good, but I’m most excited for Cinnamon.

I love anything vintage Lip Smacker wise, but I will say it was disappointing that the 90’s trio’s flavors are all different than their original. Stellar Strawberry is still made so I can’t understand why this flavor formula is nothing like the original. Also, Piece A Cake from the 70s trio has a weird undertone to it from the odd lemon flavor that was added to it. Peach is spectacular though!

          • Celeste on June 21, 2015 at 10:47 PM said:

I don’t remember that Orange shorbit too much and I never had stellar strawberry. However I agree that moon rock candy is not like the original. It’s more like a spun sugar with a hint of rock candy flavor. :/ I love peach and piece of cake.

Bunny Cookie, do you plan on reviewing the Inside Out Lip Smackers when they come out? I wanted your opinion on them.

There’s some Inside Out Lip Smackers being sold on ebay right now if you really want them.

    • I bought them, thanks for the heads up! 🙂

I’ll let y’all know how they are when they come in! I hope the blue berry and cinnamon are on point. I saw the movie on Saturday and loved it. I recommend it. It’s something intelligently written enough for adults to enjoy as well as kids. It doesn’t have any corney songs or cliche story lines. LOL

  15. Maria on June 21, 2015 at 2:34 AM said:

Well Renee if I find the 90s trio would you like me to grab it for u? And Amanda same with the 80s trio? I thought u both had gotten them already or I would’ve picked them up. My Rite Aid had two 90s and two 80s and one 70s trios not even two days ago. Let me kno. And I got the Inside Out ones on their way here! Very interested in the Cinnamon and Blueberry.

Have yet to find Sour Orange. I wanna get another set of the novelties.

  17. Went to Target and Walmart today. Still no ’70’s, ’80’s, or ’90’s trios and no Inside Out flavors. 🙁

    • Disney shouldn’t even associate with Lip Smackers anymore, they can’t even get their products in stores.

    • Karen on June 25, 2015 at 7:50 PM said:

My 70s 80s 90s trios I found at Rite Aid and the Inside Out sets I found at Kmart. Give those stores a try. Good luck! I know its frustrating.

  24. Maria on June 24, 2015 at 2:25 PM said:

They are all good. “Joy” is very close to the “Ice pop” from the Frozen collection. The “Outrageous Cinnamon” is excellent, like Red Hots. “Blues n berry” is pretty close to the original if not completely. Been years since I’ve used the old Blueberry. “I ‘ Scream Shake” is exactly like Vanilla Frosting. And “Sour Raspberries” is very similar to RedRaspberry which I love so A+ Lipsmacker. Excellent set.

  25. Celeste on June 24, 2015 at 10:16 PM said:

I’m not thrilled about the Joy or Sour raspberry because I already have those flavors, but I’m looking forward to the other 3 flavors! I’m glad fear is going like vanilla frosting! That’s one of the flavors I’ve been wanting. I never had a true blueberry flavor so I’m excited about that! I am looking forwars to a REAL cinnamon flavor, not that stupid cinnamon swirl they’ve been releasing! I wonder if you mix this cinnamon with a sugar spun lip smacker if it would be like the original cinnamon sugar lip smacker. What do you guys think?

  26. Celeste on June 26, 2015 at 9:50 PM said:

I got my packs today! I like this set. I’m dissapointed with joy and disgust. Those could have been more unique.

Fear- its a mix of tea party treats and buttercream frosting.
Anger- its like red hots candy minus the heat, just the nice cinnamon sweet flavor.
    Disgust- red raspberry dupe
Joy- close to ice pop maybe more lemony. I don’t pick up any berry notes.
    Sadness- pure blueberry flavor

  27. Maria on June 27, 2015 at 5:38 PM said:

Fear is exactly like Vanilla Frosting.

I asked them about the pink lemonade biggy, asking them if they would restock and they didn’t reply. LOL

  29. I managed to get a pink lemonade regular and loved it so much. I then saw they had it in the big size and I ordered 3! But “whoops, sorry but this item isn’t in stock!” So maybe it was just an error of putting it onto their website?
    No idea.
