The birds are singing, the sun is out, everyone is in shorts… sure it’s only 59 degrees but it’s summer, darnit!  And I won’t let a little thing like temperature tell me otherwise. Which is why, drooling in the ice cream aisle at the grocery store earlier, I absentmindedly threw a pint of Haagen Daz Pineapple Coconut into my cart.

What a great flavor to celebrate summer with, I thought.  I totally didn’t grab this flavor because it subconsciously reminded me of a vintage Lip Smacker flavor, either. I independently chose this without any influence whatsoever! Oh boy.  😀

Well it took another 30 minutes before I figured that out, but here we are! And here are some pictures to document my delicious coincidence.

Say hello to these two screw-top 70’s cuties, Pineapple and Pineapple Cocoanut. Yes, that’s cocoanut with an A! Very vintage.

Pineapple smells very creamy and heavy and not nearly as tart as you’d expect, which is a nice twist on their fruity scents. Pineapple Cocoanut lays it extra heavy on the coconut, almost the sunscreen-y kind of coconut which defines summer for me. I like it!

And I must say, I’m pretty partial to that blindingly neon yellow tube and white lettering.

Has anyone tried the Finding Dory flavors yet?

    • Tanya on May 23, 2016 at 1:25 PM said:

I did! To me, Gummy Bait smells like cantaloupe, Tropical Tidal Wave Treat is like a pink Starburst (maybe strawberry banana?), Blue Tang Berry is like a generic blue Kool-Aid that I can’t remember the name of, Starfish Cookie is a strong smelling sugar cookie, Fish Out of Water-melon Pop is a weaker watermelon and Sea Salted Pretzel is pretty similar to the regular Salted Pretzel. I’ve always wanted a Cantaloupe Lip Smacker, so I was pretty excited about Gummy Bait.

“I got the trio with “Gummy Bait”, “Fish out of Water-Melon Pop” and “Blue Tang Berry” today for 2.17 at Drug Mart….ALL were very yummy. Im not sure what “Gummy Bait” smells like but its good. The “Fish out of water- Melon Pop” smells a bit more than just watermelon. Its good! And “Blue Tang Berry” is just that a Blue Tangy Berry. The other trio was “Tropical Tidal Wave”, “Blue Tang Berry” and “Starfish Cookie”…I didnt get this one because i have sooo many Cookie smelling ones. And im not a fan of the strawberry starburst so…But I didnt see “Sea Salted Pretzel”…must not be in a trio??

        • Discount Drug Mart? Are they not going to be carrying Bonne Bell/Lip Smackers?

          • Also the watermelon pop smells the same as the new Watermelon Twist Smoothie Chiller. It’s a watermelon lemonade flavor.

I havent smelled the new Watermelon Twist but I def thought “Fish out of Water – Melon Pop” was not jus a watermelon scent, theres something else there. Yes Discount Drug Mart appears to get all the new Disney ones and Rite Aid down the street from me seems to get the others.

Sea Salted Pretzel was in a 6 piece tin set. I didn’t even know there were 2 trios! Did the trio you got come in a cane with a topper? I got the tin at Kmart if anyone was wondering. And $2.17 is a great deal 🙂

No they were in the stardard carded trios. I got lucky and got the Minnie Dots tin for 4.00 and the trio was half off. Im a big fan of Salted Pretzel so I wish it was in one of em.

I got the Finding Dory tin. The flavors are so perfect for Summer! Fish Out of Water-Melon Pop is definitely a watermelon/lemonade flavor! Watermelon Twist is my favorite Smoothie Chillerz, so I’m glad to have an extra!

Yep I didnt think “Fish Out Of Water-Melon Pop” was just watermelon. Its yummy!

  10. Everybody check out the posts on Lip Smackers FB page! People finally standing up for not wanting Lip Smackers made in China! Save the pic and repost on IG, FB and Twitter! It’s time Markwins listens and responds!!! Love live Lip Smackers being made in the USA!!!!

    • Stef on June 3, 2016 at 9:10 AM said:

I think it’s time to step it up here. I agree with the posts and reposting the pic on IG, FB, and twitter. However, Markwins isn’t stupid. We’re still buying LS (of course not the ones being made in China). If we want to make a big impact, we have to boycott cold turkey. We can’t buy anything. No new releases. No Finding Dory or anything. If we really want them to listen we have to quit buying anything LS for as long as it takes until Markwins listens. I know that might sound extreme and hurt people who love LS and can’t stop buying balms, but we have do something more than just protest. I’ve already started boycotting them and haven’t bought a new LS since March of 2016. Now, who’s with me?

      • I agree with that but I believe you have to do both. You have to make it known that it’s not acceptable and then can boycott by not buying. If you just don’t buy, then they are going to think Lip Smackers aren’t selling. I recommend doing both. Stick it to em! I have not bought anything they’ve made in China nor any Frozen ones. I’ve been boycotting most other Disney too!

        • It seems LS has updated the Where are LS made in the FAQs on the website. It seems like they’ll continue making the balms in the US and not the glosses. Really, the answer to the question is stupidly written. What the hell does product specific mean? They don’t even mention the country of origin (e.g. China, Vietnam, ect..)

Lip Smacker lip balms are proudly made in the USA. All other Lip Smacker and Smackers products’ countries of origin are product specific but are formulated with our expert taste makers. We continue to deliver the same exceptional flavors that are loved by fans across the world. It’s our brand promise to deliver the “Best Flavor Forever” in all of our products.

I have a question.I recently bought two trios at Wal-Mart.One says “Manufactured in California” and the other says “Manufactured in Ohio” . Is the Ohio one a “old” trio from BB days?
Because I know that the California one has to be Markwins.

  12. RIGHT NOW on eBay, there are Swirl Smackers being sold in many flavors, including raspberry peach!

Any one happen to actually get their free gift? I’m reading a lot of posts on Lip Smacker facebook page stating that no one’s received it or in most cases telling people they never signed up for the Smoochie Club.

Nope, neither my mom or I did. My mom’s bday is in July, so we shall see if she gets her free birthday LS.
