I’ve procrastinated posting about the spring smackers–there’s so many! This will not be an in-depth review because the sheer quantity is too much to be able to review fairly. There’s the regular Easter collection, Disney Princesses, Mickey and friends…

There are some good flavors here, I DO like Strawberry cream Frosting, Orange Creme, & Buttercream Chick.

That’s all there is to say about that. Truth is I’m mostly waiting impatiently to see what happens with the upcoming closure & webstore changes.

I’m thinking the same thing! I wonder what the Markwins acquisition will do for the brand and if its going to make lip smackers better and more accessible. Fingers crossed. 🙂

Me too! I want to know what their plans are for the brand!

I’m glad Bunny Cookie agrees with me on strawberry cream frosting. It’s different than the past few strawberry flavors that have been coming out in the Easter collection. I noticed that the Daisy Duck Easter Basket Cupcake and Minnie Mouse Bubble Gum Frosting flavors smell like two flavors mixed together. The Easter basket cupcake one smells like the typical cake flavor mixed with jelly bean, and the bubble gum frosting flavor smells like bubble gum and buttercream frosting combined. I really like them even though they smell like previous flavors mixed together. Oh, and there’s another mint flavor in the original Easter collection.

I FINALLY found that one trio with red licorice, berry slush, and buttered popcorn at Target. They only had one left, so I picked it up immediately.

I kind of wonder if the Bonne Bell Lip Smackers will end up being sold in discount and dollar stores soon. I know I’ve seen a few at Dollar Tree and Big Lots, but it would be amazing if they sold more. I like getting Lip Smackers at a cheap price.

      • Yeah, I totally agree with the strawberry cream frosting. It smells and tastes heavenly!

I already have way too many! But I may buy these Easter ones and a couple of others. To me its more of a collection thing than anything.

Does anyone know if the web store will still be open after April 1st?

I heard that there will no longer be a web store, but I am not sure.

Yeah, I used to see them at 99$ only stores a lot when I was in middle school and high school, but I don’t see them there anymore. I hope they go back to being sold there more often.

        • Celeste, where did you hear that there won’t be no web store?

I’m not sure, but I do hope Markwins wouldn’t do that, plus it wouldn’t make any sense unless they won’t to actually sabotage the business (if you can’t find what you want in stores, you can at least order online). I know on their website you can’t order online, but both Wet ‘N’ Wild and PF have their own websites and you can order online and check to see if it’s available in your town and what stores it’s in.

I heard it from another reader, but it may not be true. I hope they keep the web store up. I think its stupid to have a website where you just see products, but can’t order them. It makes no sense! lol I hope they keep the webtore too. I’ll go crazy if they re-release the cosmic collection or jeweled collection and i can’t find them in stores and there’s no website! lol Those are my 2 favorite collections! I hope they redo them.

I just got the Pink Chocolate, Carrot Cake and Bubblegum Egg…Love the Bubblegum egg. I also have Jelly bean, Sugar Cookie and Mallow Chick. Jelly Bean is awesome. Mallow Chick is very faint. And Renee, I bought that trio first when I got back into Lip Smackers. Love em all! All the novelties are good except the Double Cheeseburger ( I LOATHE onions). Yum! that Bubblegum Frosting sounds good. May have to buy it.

    • Renee on March 27, 2015 at 8:25 AM said:

Bubble gum frosting, easter basket cupcake, orange creme, candy sprinkles, and strawberry cream frosting are worth buying.

    • Celeste on March 27, 2015 at 1:59 PM said:

Cheeseburger is awful! 🙁 I don’t use it, but its unique addition to my collection. lol

      • I don’t get it either. I love cheeseburgers, especially during summer (yum!), but I don’t want cooked beef, cheese, onions, ketchup and whatever else on my lips at all.

        • Celeste on March 27, 2015 at 7:27 PM said:

Me too! I love cheeseburgers and most food in general, but having it in a lip balm is just terrible! lol

The Orange Creme looks yummy too.

  4. Maria on March 30, 2015 at 2:38 AM said:

Well I’ve ordered Bubblegum Frosting, and Easter Basket Cupcake and the other two.

    • Celeste on March 31, 2015 at 10:10 PM said:

I ordered these flavors too. I also got the brights collection. The texture isn’t my favorite, but they are pretty and are interesting flavors.

  5. Maria on April 1, 2015 at 6:25 AM said:

The brights are cool but I wouldn’t use them. I have the lollipop.

    • Celeste on April 1, 2015 at 9:15 PM said:

I know what you mean. The scents are probably nice and unique, but the texture is too weird for some people.

  6. I know we’re all worrying about the LS sale and if/when the products change so I really wondered when Markwins acquired WnW and PF, what became of their products after they acquired them. So I did some research.

With PF, I do have to say the packaging was improved (the sale happened around 2012 and looking back on posts of reviews in like 2010-2009 or so, the packaging wasn’t as sophisticated as it is now). Reviewers did say PF is hit or miss, probably depending upon what cosmetic item you’re purchasing (whether gloss, BB cream, blush, ect….) but I would say it’s mostly mixed to positive. Though, they did shoot their foot in their mouth with this ridiculous CC cream that was supposed to blur wrinkles, fine lines, and help reduce puffiness. Well, it didn’t do like it claimed to be.

On to Wet ‘n’ Wild now. They did hire Fergie (a celebrity) as a sponsor and even a line for WnW (which I believe is a bit more pricier than the usual WnW, but I don’t know how much). One comment on a review said it was just an easy way to attract consumers because of the celebrity status. The packaging did change, but it isn’t something to write home about. For their lipstick of cherry frost silk finish, it isn’t like the average lipstick packaging where you twist up and then down. It doesn’t twist period (I don’t know about their other lipsticks).

One of their velvet matte lip colors, several reviews have said they snap off the base and slide out of the packaging. WnW did change the formula for their eye shadows. Several people loved it because it was creamy ect … but now it’s not pigmented, it’s chalky, hard to work with. Basically what happened is they took out the preservatives and added more filler. One reviewer compared the old formula to the new one and you can see a huge difference in ingredients. Also, they came up with this cringe worthy name for one of their eye shadows *cringing while typing this* I’m His Breezy eye shadow which literally translates to I’m easy and I’m sure you know what that means.

What I did notice about where the two are made, on one of the reviews of PF, I saw a made in Italy tag while Wet ‘n’ Wild is completely made in China.

Well, there are the comparisons, so I don’t know what to expect with Markwins and LS.

    • Celeste on April 1, 2015 at 9:07 PM said:

Well I read an article that said that Markwins has already had their hand in Lip Smackers formula and themes for a while now, so I don’t expect major changes. I already have so many lip smackers that I’m okay with what I have if things really go down hill. I’m enjoying them. 🙂

    • Celeste on April 1, 2015 at 9:08 PM said:

Interesting research, Stef, thanks for sharing that. 🙂

Your welcome, Celeste. The thought just occurred to me just yesterday what happened with the other two brands they acquired and see what changes they made. It seems to me PF is the best of the two brands, WnW is hit or miss. I did try one of WnW’s nail polishes like years ago (maybe 7) and even though it was 99 cents, it peeled the following day. I’ve had nail polishes from Maybelline, Revlon, and Sally Hansen and none of those came off very easily. They do chip and/or fade but that’s due to wear and tear (washing dishes, cleaning, showering, ect…) so it’s to be expected, but not the second day. Though, I don’t know about their new formula though, but I still don’t want to try it.

        • Celeste on April 2, 2015 at 1:24 PM said:

I liked PF when I was in high school. WnW is okay. A lot of people like their eye shadows and lip sticks and I buy them; I think the quality is good for the low price, but its still a lower quality cosmetic brand. The lipsticks run and are drying. I used WnW nail polish as a preteen, but haven’t used it since so I don’t remember it much. Revlon always chips on me right away. I like Essie and OPI for my nail polish. I hope only positive things happen for the Smackers line now, but its too soon to tell.

They focused too much on very young girls, instead of targeting teens and young adults and middle age women who grew up in the 70s loving their products. 🙂 The creativity died in recent years in my opinion.

I haven’t heard any new information on it, and it’s bothering me. By the way, the source you found that said the Lip Smacker website will be down in April is incorrect. The Lip Smacker website is still up, and the only change is at the bottom. Instead of saying Aspire Brands, it just says The Bonne Bell Company. That’s it. I looked at Markwin’s website, and they don’t have Lip Smackers on it at all.

Oh man. The Bubblegum Frosting is awesome!

  8. Celeste on April 3, 2015 at 2:59 PM said:

Yes, I noticed that Renee; I’m glad its still up so people can still purchase from it. 🙂

I got another couple of the Lip Smacker Easter egg trios at Kmart today on clearance for $0.93 each! I got the purple (bunny cake, candy sprinkles, and strawberry cream frosting) and blue (orange creme egg, sugar cookie, and marshmallow chick) ones.

I love the Easter Smackers. I bought quite a lot of them around Easter. Haven’t seen any anywhere lately.
