I figured Bonne Bell had more than exceeded their surprise quota this year with the introduction of the amazing novelty smackers, but after finding these at Target consider me educated… and happily shocked.

Eight new smackers, each set delightfully themed with ice cream and donuts in mind:

Presenting the Sensational Sundae collection:

and the Delectable Donuts collection:

Where did these come from?! Who do I have to blame / thank?! πŸ˜€

Toppings that make you go mmm: Creamy Caramel, French Vanilla, Hot Fudge, and Strawberry Glaze

Donuts for every meal: Confetti Sprinkles, Raspberry Jelly, Cake Donut, and Strawberry Frosting

hot-fudge-smackerSo pretty πŸ™‚ Bonne Bell really perfected these in a few ways; the packaging is a perfect balance between old-school and new, and the tube colors are gorgeous!Β I love Strawberry Frosting’s retro milkshake pink, and the Hot Fudge/Strawberry Glaze pairing. I’ve been dreaming about a black tube for awhile and this comes close enough…

They all have lovely scents that really come out after first use. The richness of Creamy Caramel and French Vanilla are sooo nice. Hot Fudge is very reminiscent of the 90’s Strawberry/Raspberry Chocolate duo (and M&M) smackers. Strawberry Glaze is super tart (yum) and has mild color, while Raspberry Jelly is super sweet. Interestingly, Strawberry Frosting has a mild minty note that keeps reminding me of mid-2000 flavors… maybe it’s just me.

I can’t comment onΒ Cake Donut and Confetti Sprinkles because I can never tell with those types of balms πŸ˜› They’re all the same to me!

So, this release gets a high grade from me. What do you guys think?

Also can anyone tell me if Strawberry Glaze is similar to the jewel capped Strawberry Garnet Glaze? I don’t have an open one to test and I can’t remember!

I have been searching high and low for these! I’m hoping that maybe when I travel to a bigger city area I can find them. My husband laughs that I keep buying more and more Lip Smackers (I have about 30 unused ones and about that many open and partly used). I told him that he has almost 6.000 vinyl records so he needs to hush up and let me do my thing.

    • I used to have vinyl records until i had to move them. Never again hahah. Smackers are little so it’s okay ;D

    • I found a trio set for the holidays that have donut flavors. It’s called the Donut Delight collection, and it has raspberry jelly, cake donut, and confetti sprinkles. It also comes with a donut topper, so you have something to carry your Lip Smackers with (just don’t forget to remove the plastic piece at the bottom of the topper!). Bunny Cookie, the raspberry jelly one smells like the Daisy Duck cutie pie Lip Smacker from a couple years ago.

  5. Where are these available at?

I found them popping up on ebay- but they aren’t cheap. I saw one for $15 and then shipping.

      • If you’re super quick, I’ve seen a few sets go up for $7.99 each or so which is a lot more reasonable. They sold in less than 12 hours though.

  6. Renee on May 20, 2014 at 6:06 PM said:

These sound cool! I think I saw these on ebay a couple days ago. I went to Big Lots today and I bought a holiday trio from 2011 for $3.

    • I’ve heard of so many people having luck with LS @ Big Lots. Lucky!

    • Lucky duck! If anybody from the US wants to hunt down an original Cinnamon Sugar for me, I will love you forever! Lol. We don’t have Big Lots or anything good at Target here. And I can’t find new LS’s at Wal-Mart anymore! I’ve been looking on ebay forever! No luck.

I’m also looking for the 98 Christmas collection (Golden Pear, Grape Gum Drop, Candy Cane, Sugar Plum, Merry Berry).

….and the gem cap collection ( Crystal Wintergreen, Berry Beads, Golden Butter Cream, Kaleidoscope Candy, Silver Snowball Cookie) – that was my favourite Holiday set! I loved the Crystal Wintergreen. Ahh, I haven’t seen that set in years! It’s pretty rare.

If anyone is selling, let me know! πŸ™‚ Bunnycookie, I’m looking at you. Lol

Hey Bunnycookie, I saw on ebay this chocolate-dipped banana flavor Lip Smacker on ebay. Have you ever tried it? By the way, have you been able to find that camping collection? I wanted to know if the smores flavor smells like the Halloween one.

    • Oh yeah, the new novelties are starting to roll out! πŸ™‚ I haven’t had a chance to try them but I’m excited. I’ll try to get a review up asap.

  8. So exciting!!! Love the original packaging and new flavors! Brilliant! I really hope Cake Donut is in the glazed donut/ Funnel Cake family. I feel like the only true donut flavor BB has ever done was from a line of their tinted flip balms, Flip Style, in the late 00’s in the ‘Donut You Love It?’ flavor. Literally was a glazed donut flavor and delicious. The rest are exciting too! Love both themes. Can’t wait to try French Vanilla-hope it’s rich! I always love anything caramel they do and am excited to try the rest. Really hope they’re different from their namesake flavors they tend to recycle.

    • Definitely let me know about Donut Cake because I just can’t tell. And let me know what you think of the rest too because I get smell fatigued fast! There’s a few repeats but overall it’s a really nice collection.

I found these today! They were on a random display in the girls section at Target, practically invisible, so don’t blink an eye if you’re on the hunt. These are not with the regular Lip Smackers.

Thoughts on the flavors; Let me just say I LOVE everything about the packaging, the wraps down to the boxes they come in. I LOVE when new flavors come in the original, basic packaging. I always have. They almost feel more collectible to me since it seems any flavor that comes this way HAS to be good- it comes in the original packaging. (That’s an honor, right?)

Anyway I’ll start with the donut flavors: Confetti Sprinkle seems to be the lightest flavor, although once applied it’s very sweet. I feel like some lighter flavors have to be broken in the smell the intended flavor. They also can absorb parts of the stronger flavors that they are packaged with- follow me? Cake Donut has that typical cake-y flavor. Still a little early to tell if it leans more toward the Funnel Cake flavor I was hoping for ( That perfect fried sugary dough flavor BB captured for it) or more like Birthday Cake but less sweet. Raspberry Jelly has the newer raspberry flavor BB uses, rather than the old flavor that was more authentic to me. This newer raspberry flavoring they use isn’t bad but to me it smells more like a sweet raspberry slush rather that a fresh true raspberry like it used to smell like- I digress. It is a sweet raspberry jelly donut flavor to me, pretty strong too. Lastly, Strawberry Frosting is very light too, not as sweet as I expected. I totally understand the mint not you pick up on, Bunny Cookie. To me it smells like a sweet strawberry flavor ( along the lines of the Strawberry Milkshake novelty sweet) with the old Nilla Mint Frost flavor in the background. There is no minty tingle, however.

The Sundaes: Hot Fudge and Creamy Caramel are the real winners. HF reminds me of the old BB Lip Lix in Hot Fudge Sundaze. Very sweet, very true and utterly delicious. Creamy Caramel is the same as Dulce de Leche and the same namesake that came in Easter 2013. Buttery, syrupy caramel!
Strawberry Glaze is not at all like the old Strawberry Garnet Glaze. This one is the same strawberry flavor they tend to do lately, like the Strawberry Candy Easter Smacker that came out this year, the Strawberry Liquid LS, etc., good but doesn’t remind me of strawberry preserves if you wanted something spot on. And there’s French Vanilla. Sigh. It’s good, do not get me wrong, BUT to me it’s just like Ice Cream Cake but not as cakey. They’ve done a FV flavor before, more specifically French Vanilla Fun. It was rich, deep and pure vanilla. They’ve never done a flavor like that since. The newer vanillas lately seem to be lacking and have had a generic scent. I assume resources for the scent/ flavor might be more expensive since even a lot high-end lines use them in their lipsticks/ glosses for scent. Victorias Secret makes an on the spot french vanilla flavor in their Beauty Rush line, ‘Vanilla Dream’, if you seek a true FV flavor.

Overall a very nice surprise to get these and you MUST have them if you love Lip Smackers. Now onto the latest novelties…

    • I’m noticing Target is doing that more and more with the non-regular smacker stuff. During Valentine’s Day and Easter they did the same thing.

Nice observation re: the hot fudge Lip Lix smacker. I only used those casually growing up so my knowledge is limited.

I have French Vanilla Fun somewhere, but it’s lost its scent a long time ago so I can’t compare the two. Since I think the new French Vanilla has a lot of nice depth, the Fun version must have been out of this world. With the recent Dr P fiasco, it definitely seems that certain ingredients are just not being used anymore. Whether that’s really due to regulation rules or just affordability is anyone’s guess. Come to think of it, it could be a mix of the two.

Does anyone think that cake donut smells just like ice cream cake?

    • Renee on May 1, 2015 at 4:50 PM said:

Cake donut sort of smells like the birthday cake Lip Smacker to me, but just a little more donut-y.

  26. I finally found and bought the 4 pack of the donut collection. I wasn’t sure if I would like the strawberry one (or if I would be allergic to it) or not, but I really like the smell. I haven’t tried using it yet though.

  27. The Strawberry Frosting? Seems to be diff than the other strawberry we been getting lately.

  29. I was just going to say!….most people trying to win the Swarovski Lip Smacker are using Google’d images. Bullsh#*!!! There’s also a lot of people saying “I don’t have a pic or collection” but…UH…NOOOO!!! No collectible Lip Smacker for you then…I’m so tired of people being cheap. Are you going to give it to your 3 year old and let them use it like a normal one? Do they not get how expensive it is? Go buy a ton of Lip Smackers and it might be okay. If you don’t have more than a couple years worth of collections you need not apply. Same assholes that say they love the brand but have one flavor that someone else bought them. You need to support a brand to keep it alive.

    • I have to agree! I’ve been a collector for the past six and a half years, and I think I’ve given them more money than ANY cosmetic brand I’ve ever used. I could enter in tbe

      • (I accidentally pressed “post comment.” Darn phones!)

I could enter in the contest if I wanted to, but I refuse to use Facebook (except for lurking a little, but not using my deactivated account) and I don’t want some expensive bedazzled biggy Lip Smacker.

I agree about people being cheap and wanting free stuff. You see hoards of random people entering contests, but you don’t see them ever again unless they want something else for free. It’s annoying.

        • Agree with you Renee and A. I work at a Kate Spade Outlet and people constantly negotiate prices and sales. “oh, does this get more deduction off since it’s the last one?” “Oh, can you please take more off the clearance price?” ect…

Then I also wonder, if these people are “new” because I see a lot of comments saying they used it in the early ’90’s and 2000’s and stopped using them only for when the news hit the net about the sell, people who used it years and years ago, started using it again.

    • MrsWelton on September 22, 2015 at 10:23 AM said:

Thank you, ‘A’! The cheaters are really p*ssing me off! I have been a loyal customer for nearly 40 years, not forty minutes. From the looks of the comments, 90% of them didn’t even read the rules of the contest! Grrrr!

I messaged Lip Smacker on Facebook last night to give them a heads-up – my husband and I both saw people cheating, using Google’d images! Here’s the communication:

9/21, 7:10pm Dawn Welton(me): Hello! I don’t mean to sound like a negative Nancy or a tattletale, but I believe some of the Swarovski contest submissions are pictures taken off Google Images – my husband and I both found several. I don’t make these accusations lightly – lying or cheating just to win a contest isn’t cool, nor is it fair. Thank you for your time and consideration.

9/21, 9:33pm Lip Smacker: Hi Dawn,
Thanks for sharing this. We came to this conclusion as well and have disqualified any entries using photos found online. It’s a little obvious when some collections are identical lol. We of course want this contest to be as fair as possible and appreciate you bringing this to our attention. Good luck and have a wonderful evening!
