blingy-biggy-smacker

Gasp.

This is a blinged out Strawberry biggy from the promo LS is running through January, and it’s soo beautiful  😯

I expected them to be pretty, but this is something else.

I wish I could do it justice, but it’s proving difficult to photograph–the smallest bit of light makes the crystals flash like crazy! Swarovski crystals no less; hundreds and hundreds of them in varying sizes & colors–each one meticulously hand-placed and accounted for.

It’s a dizzying amount of work and the result is lovely:

Swarovski is so glam

There’s even a display stand! Bonne Bell went all out to make this promotion extra special.

What a cute idea. Now I can stare at it all day long (with sunglasses on) 😎

I’m so thrilled (and thankful) to have a piece of iconic smacker history! You could too! Here’s info on the promo LS is running.

  2. thats sooo cool you were able to get one.if i win i want watermelon BUt i do agree that strawbery is iconic. so im torn. yours is so gorgeous

  3. Oh my FREAKING god this is THE best smacker I’ve ever seen!! It’s amazing!!

<3 the "treasure"-style balms that Bonne Bell does. this one is top of the heap as well, with jewel caps and cosmos right below. you are one lucky girl!

  5. I’m sorry, but what is so special about a tacky-looking Biggy with glued on gems? Swarovski is man-made glass gems. I don’t get the hype over Swarovski. It’s like the Vaseline jar that was done years ago all over again.

For anybody who wants this, buy a Biggy and glue rhinestones on it…or buy Swarovski “crystals” and make your own design.

    • Actually, that’s a cool idea about making your own design. Personally, if I ever got a glammed up biggy Lip Smacker, it better come in a limited edition flavor.

      • Bonne Bell, like any other company, is tricking their customers into thinking they are getting something “special”…but you HAVE to purchase a specially marked Lip Smacker Party pack. Do you know how many idiots are going to buy party packs in hopes of winning 1 out of 10 of these made-made glued on gems on Biggies? It’s kind of funny lol. With the Party Packs that will be sold, they will easily make their $$ worth and sales go up.

I agree with you, Renee. They should have made a custom/limited edition flavour and maybe add a few small diamonds on the tube to make it “special”. 3 original Biggies you can get in stores? Come on now…

Swarovski crystals are pretty expensive…..you want them to put DIAMONDS on it??

          • My point – why pay a lot of money for expensive made-made gems? I said a few small diamonds. Maybe 1 small diamond to dot the “i” in LIP. I didn’t mean make the entire tube out of diamonds. If they are ONLY making 10, why not? 🙂

        • Promos & mail-aways are something LS has done for decades.

Maybe this is a case of adult-you not enjoying the product anymore?

        • Also I know you didn’t mean an actual tube covered in diamonds but I’m picturing that and happily dying a bit inside! Haha.

    • It evokes a similar feeling to any shamelessly ‘out-there’ smackers they have made in the past; cosmics, jewel caps etc. Which were some of the most memorable collections ever made.

And like you acknowledged it’s also on trend, since it follows the Swarovski hype. It’s easier said than done gluing tiny gems onto things and having it look tidy!

But you caught me–I love glitter and Lip Smackers forever and always 8)

It won’t let me reply lower for some reason. But I was gonna say this. Asking for real diamonds is unreasonable. Were you angry as a kid when the birth stone smackers did not real diamonds? Besides, cheap diamonds are gross and cloudy at that price range, trust me, shopping for my engagement ring on a budget was not easy. Diamonds are all about the corporate greed you are dissing in your post. People die for diamonds, have you heard of blood diamonds? Frankly I’m glad LipSmacker went with man made materials. Diamonds are also not sparkly at low prices when this is about bling

Also I’m not an idiot. Yes Ill be buying a few extra party packs between now and Jan. So what, I like the product and use it. No loss here. Only if you hate the lip balm does it seems like a scam. So don’t buy it anymore. Simple. Sorry to sound angry but your complaints arent realistic.

      • I never said I wanted diamonds. I just wish these special Lip Smackers came in limited edition flavors. It would’ve been even more awesome if they were shimmer/glitter lip glosses instead of the original kind. I feel like they would be even more of a collector’s item if they were in apecial flavors.

  6. You obviously don’t understand what I meant, Heather T. One of 10 Biggies with Swarovski crystals will be prized to the people who get the special code from a Party Pack. 10…do you know how limited that number is? The Birthstone collections were in stores for ANYBODY to buy in the early 2000s…it was like the Holiday collections every year. With something being so limited, it should be SPECIAL. Limited flavour, something wow factor. Lip Smackers have been around for over 40 years now… I think they could glue a tiny diamond on the “I” for 10 bloody Lip Smackers. If they were selling them in stores for the general public, diamonds would be very unrealistic…obviously.

It comes with a stand and it is suppose to be displayed as dazzling, and as a collectable. Diamonds are dazzling, no? Almost all girls like diamonds, no? It was just a suggestion. I was saying “maybe”…maybe they should have made it even more wowing…more worth buying Party Packs to “win” one. I didn’t say should have. I was stating an opinion. So relax!!!!!

  7. wow well then! haha. i really like Watermelon, for the simple fact that it has the pink crystals. soo shiny. i think i’d pick that. i was thinking about other flavors and Banana would be beautiful too. i’m not really that familiar with swarvroski though.

i am a clever one though because i buy myself and my nieces Lip Smackers every christmas. whoops guess theirs didn’t have a qr code inside. weeeeird, hmmmm. haha. they wouldn’t appreciate the beauty anyway! xD

    • Hey kitty! Banana would be pretty, I can think of very few that wouldn’t! It’s also one of my favorite scents 🙂 Cotton Candy would be amaaazing because of the pink. I think LS has made a few of us crystal crazy.

Well Swarovski crystals are higher quality than things like rhinestones which are pretty terrible…in my experience they go dull, fall off, peel etc because they are a foil-y type of material. But Swarovski crystals are actually leaded glass man-made crystals and light reflects pretty wildly on them. There really is a quality difference, especially long-term. Sorry for rambling!

Your plan is very very evil and clever, muhaha >:} They won’t miss what they don’t know! Hahah.

    • Swarovski Crystal isn’t a gemstone or a crystal – it’s glass that’s made at high temperatures by melting silicon oxide powders with lead glass. To produce the “sparkle/diamond” like effect the glass is cut and then polished. So basically, expensive glass made to appear like diamonds/gems. They make jewelry , figurines, ect. A little Swarovski figurine goes over $100 US.

@BunnyCookie…crystal crazy lol. Congrats on owning one though. 🙂

Ahhh thx for telling me about this contest Bunny Cookie!! I must have Watermelon, it is my absolute fav and I’ve worn it since the early 1990s. I am on the hunt now for the codes in my town! I love soda Smackers so this is great

Thx Bonne Bell for giving me a chance to win

    Shara

  9. Girl glitter is my thing also, I understand! This is the ultimate lip smacker!

  10. Hello Bunny Cookie!
Wow, this is definitely a collectible piece! 🙂 The Biggie Vanilla Lip Smacker is my favorite! Loving the clear and lilac gems together! I first knew of this promotion in the LS instagram page. 🙂

I know this might be a big request, but can you eventually show us your complete LS collection (like a global picture of all of them)? 😀 I just love seeing collection of smackers and ever since I came across your blog, I’ve been wanting to see your collection! I think you once said that you owned around the thousands right? 🙂

Thanks and have a great day! <3

    • This is so awesome! I’ll probably buy a pack (if I can find one!) To test my luck 🙂 you never know, but you can’t win if you don’t try! 😉 I’d pick the vanilla too, also like Emily I’d LOVE to see your whole collection! Or at least a count, I’ve loved smackers since I was a kid (like all of you I’m sure lol) so I adore your blog 🙂 thanks for running it!

    • I know right? Vanilla is so gorgeous

I will try to put together a collection picture eventually. It’s kind of difficult since the last time I did that it took up my whole floor and it was maybe, half the size it is today. But I’ll try!

  11. Well, buying those party packs are going to be less expensive than buying the actual LS Swarovski Biggy. I just checked it out online and my mouth nearly dropped at the sticker shock and I needed to blink my eyes in case I was seeing it right but it’s: $250.00! That’s two hundred fifty dollars!

I love LS dearly since my school days, but you could buy 100 LS for that amount of money. Heck, even the lipgloss/lipstick at Sephora doesn’t even cost that much. I could buy like 7 or 8 glosses or lipsticks more than just one tube of this LS biggy.

It’s more of a buy to just buy a biggy and go to Michael’s and get Swarovski crystals (which I know they have since my jewelry making days) and decorate it myself and it wouldn’t cost me 250 dollars. I just feel a little bit worried for the girls or tweens who may say “I want it for Christmas!” and not even fully understand the hesitant “no.” Since, when I was a in elementary school, I’d place my LS in my backpack and use it on in school (which helped during the cold winter months of chapped lips and tasted better than Chapstick) I think I lost like two or three LS and that was that, but if the daughter loses it, then it’s bye bye $250.

    • I was pretty shocked at the price too. I also used to make jewelry and considered making one of these myself, but I just don’t have the patience anymore. And if I did have an extra $250 to spend on Lip Smackers, I’d probably just buy 100 different flavors or so. Just like another commenter said, if it was some super rare flavor, then MAYBE I’d consider it. In the meantime I’ll just be happy that I finally got Chocolate Hazelnut at Target today. I’ve been waiting all year for this and it’s great! 🙂

    • Hey Stef 🙂 Yeah I was surprised too they went retail! I’m curious to see how long they’ll be for sale.

I wonder if maybe the big spenders won’t be parents at Christmas, but adults buying one for themself?

Hey. I am a Lip Smacker fan from way back but even I think that TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY BUCKS for a tube of lip pomade is JUST PLAIN CRAZY

This is just a promotional thing to make it seem like you’re getting something that’s worth the money, when its not. I and I think its kind of ridiculous. lol I have about 93 lipsmackers and it cost me about $90 in total because I bought in bulk and in party packs. I couldn’t imagine buying this. lol I’m done collecting because the company is sold and it will be hard for me to find them. Plus, I already got sooo many! lol I’m thinking about refergerating mine because I heard they last longer that way.

    • MrsWelton on February 27, 2015 at 6:59 AM said:

I agree – $250.00 for a $4.00 Biggy Smacker with crystals is preposterous. They’re still for sale on their website, though I dunno who would ever buy one.

I’ve been hunting and shopping around my province, stockpiling, then storing mine in Ziploc bags (airtight) in cookie tins in my refrigerator – I’ve read that’s best for long term storage.

      • It’s a silly thing to buy in my opinion. I do love lip smackers, but would never even consider $250 on that. I get smackers sent to my office to prevent anyone from stealing them from my front door when UPS drops them off. They ask me what I have in my box and laugh! lol I tell them to hush because its just what I collect and they are not expensive. lol

The cookie tin storage is a good idea! I wil try that, thanks 🙂

Same here, I’ve loved LS all my life, but that’s an awful lot of money. 🙁

Glad I’m not the only one who gets teased! 😛 Nobody’s been malicious, then again, they know better, lol. I was crying to my daughter (she’s 18 and in college) about the sale of the LS company, back when I first heard about it, so she said she’d give me whatever LS she has, but then she also said this (I copied and pasted directly from her message)… “There’s an episode of Friends where Ross and Monica’s grandma died and she was obsessed with stealing Sweet N Low sugar packets from restaurants and when they were cleaning out her house they found boxes upon boxes of those sugar packets. I feel like that would be you but with Lip Smackers haha.” I’m definitely no hoarder, so it made me laugh. 😀

Thanks! I wanted to use some kind of container that would block light – sure glad I saved those tins from those Danish butter cookies! I tried to find more, but they’re only available around Christmas. Shucks. Oh well, until I can get more cookie tins (I have two filled and in my fridge), I’m temporarily using the little, tin Hello Kitty collectible PEZ dispenser lunchbox that I was using as my sewing kit, lol.

Exactly, its not even worth it!

Yeah, I learned to be more discreete with my packages at work now. lol

That’s so funny! I laughed when I read that. I don’t have boxes and boxes either, but I could imagine my future kids looking through my stuff and finding lip smackers when I pass. lol

That’s a good idea too, anything tin foil may help seal the flavors and scents in the balm. 🙂
